God's Greatest Gift To Man !

Dear friend, forgiveness of sins and Eternal Life is God's greatest gift to man. We all need to be forgiven by God, for all of us have sinned in many ways. And forgiveness of sins can only be obtained through the person who died in our place, the Lord Jesus Christ. Have you received God's forgiveness of your sins?

Are you absolutely sure that if you were to die today you would go to Heaven, or do you just hope so? If you are not sure then please read this booklet so that you may understand how to obtain forgiveness of sins and be sure that Heaven will be your Eternal home.

God's Word declares, in the book of first Timothy chapter 1, verse 15, that, "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.."

This is the purpose for which the Lord Jesus Christ came to earth, to save sinners, by giving Himself as a Sacrifice in our place, paying the penalty of our sins, which was death. Christ died in our place and rose again because He desires to forgive us of our sins.

Who is the Lord Jesus Christ? What did He do for me? How can I be forgiven of my sins and have eternal life and be sure of Heaven when I die?

By looking in God's Word, I will answer these questions for you, with Bible verses to help you understand God's way of Salvation.

Who is the Lord Jesus Christ?

1. He is the only begotten Son of God.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John ch.3, v.16

2. He is our Creator.

"All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything that was made." John ch.1, v.3 "For by Him were all things created, that are in Heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist." Colossians ch.1 v.15-17

3. He is the Supreme Judge of the World, to whom we must all give an account of our life. "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.." 2 Corinthians ch.5 verse 10

How to receive forgiveness of sins, the gift of God's Salvation.

1. Realize, you have sinned against God, and that the penalty of your sin is death.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans chapter 6, verse 23

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans ch.3 verse 23

Knowing that the penalty of our sin is death, helps us to understand the reason for which the Lord Jesus Christ died in our place: to pay the penalty of our sins.

Because we all have sinned in some way or another, all are in need of God's forgiveness and salvation.

2. Understand and believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died in your place on the cross for your sins, and paid the penalty of your sins completely by His Sacrifice.

Three days after His death and burial, He was resurrected to life again and ascended back to Heaven where He is seated at the right hand of His Heavenly Father where He intercedes for those who come to Him by faith.

"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures." 1 Corinthians ch.15, verse 3,4

"And He is the propitiation (substitution, sacrifice) for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." 1 John ch. 2, verse 2

But Christ, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God. Hebrews chapter 10, verse 12

"For He (God the Father) had made Him (Christ) to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him." 2 Corinthians 5:21

"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement

of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are

healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and The Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." Isaiah ch. 53 v. 5,6

3. Forgiveness of sins cannot be obtained through your own merits or good works, but rather it is through faith in the Sacrifice of Christ.

Here's what Christ said to a very religious man, who was trusting in his good works for salvation. "There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto Him, Rabbi, we know that Thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that Thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, (truly, truly) I say unto you, Except (unless) a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John chapter 3, verse 1-3)

Christ told that religious leader that he must be born again. To be "born again" means to be saved, to be forgiven of your sins and to receive God's gift of Eternal Life, Salvation.

I can imagine how shocked Nicodemus must have been, to hear Christ tell him that he must be born again, considering the fact that this man, Nicodemus, was a religious leader in Israel, and no doubt a very good man. But still he was not a saved man.

Christ helped him to understand that forgiveness of sins and God's Salvation could not be obtained on any other basis, other than faith in Christ's Sacrifice. For nothing else could ever pay for our sins, except Christ's Sacrifice.

This is the greatest and most valuable news we could ever hear, that God loved mankind so much that He was willing to send Christ to die in our place.

You see, God knew that we could never pay for our sins by our own good works, or sacrifices, because the penalty for sin is death. That is why, the Lord Jesus Christ came to earth to do something for us that we could not do for our-selves, which is: to pay for our sins by sacrificing Himself in our place, taking upon Himself our sins and dying in our place.

Think about it. If forgiveness could be obtained any other way then, Christ died in vain. Notice what we're told in Galatians ch. 2, verse 21 "I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness comes by the law, then Christ is dead in vain."

"For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians ch.2 verse 8,9

"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags; and we do all fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind have taken us away." Isaiah ch. 64 verse 6 God said, "all our righteousness" referring to our good works, are as filthy rags. "Death" is the only payment that God accepts for sin, not good works which are considered filthy rags, but death. And not just anyone's death, but the death of someone who had never sinned and that person is Jesus Christ. This is the reason why the Bible teaches that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven because He is the only one who died in our place for our sins. No one else died in our place for us, except the Lord Jesus Christ, God's Son.

"Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the Life; no one comes unto the Father, but by Me." John chapter 14, verse 6

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts ch. 4, v. 12

You might be thinking, "But I try to keep the law of God, the 10 commandments, isn't that good enough?" But now let's be honest, have you been able to keep the whole law of God? Here's what God says about it:

"For whosoever will keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." James c.2 v.10 If we lied, or stolen, or looked upon a woman to lust after her in our heart, God says, we have broken the whole law and stand guilty before God.

The purpose for which the law was given was to help us understand that we have sinned against God. If God would not have given us the law, then how would we know that lying and stealing and adultery was wrong. It is by God's commandments, the law, that we are made aware of what is right and what is wrong. But the law, in it of itself, does not offer pardon, it simply tells us what is right and what is wrong. "But that no man is justified (declared not guilty) by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for the just shall live by faith. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith." Galatians chapter 3, verse 11,24

4. Ask the Lord Jesus Christ through prayer to forgive you of your sins. Here's what God promised "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans ch.10, v.13

Here is a simple prayer that you can pray from your heart to God, and He will hear you and keep His promise.

Lord Jesus, I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose again, and today I receive You as my personal Savior and I ask You to save me, in Jesus name, amen.

This is how to receive the gift of forgiveness, which is the gift of God's Salvation. This is how to become saved (born again).

Dear friend, you too, can be forgiven of your sins and be saved, for the Bible tells us clearly in the book of 1 Timothy chapter 1, verse 15 that, "..Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.." This is the true meaning of Christmas.

Life is too precious and eternity never ends, therefore I encourage you to be wise and consider this matter seriously.

Christ wants to forgive you of your sins and be your Savior. Ask Christ to save you and He will, for He promised to do so.
